#SMAART 7 CALIBRTION FILES SOFTWARE#
Getting started with Smaart v8 requires some basic hardware requirements beyond the Smaart software and host computer. Optimal Audio and Video Reproduction at Home.At its core, Smaart is a computer based dual-channel FFT platform that we use in our work as audio engineers to view the frequency content of signals or measure the response of our electrical and electro-acoustic systems, all to better make informed decisions about the deployment and operation of those systems. You can also view the help files onlinedownload the html files for offline viewing 8. The REW room acoustics software contains comprehensive help information. Many thanks to those who have already donated, your generosity keeps REW development going and is greatly appreciated. If you find REW useful you can make a donation by clicking the button below. It includes tools for generating audio test signals measuring SPL and impedance measuring frequency and impulse responses measuring distortion generating phase, group delay and spectral decay plots, waterfalls, spectrograms and energy-time curves generating real time analyser RTA plots calculating reverberation times calculating Thiele-Small parameters determining the frequencies and decay times of modal resonances displaying equaliser responses and automatically adjusting the settings of parametric equalisers to counter the effects of room modes and adjust responses to match a target curve. The audio measurement and analysis features of REW help you optimise the acoustics of your listening room, studio or home theater and find the best locations for your speakers, subwoofers and listening position. REW is free room acoustics analysis software for measuring and analysing room and loudspeaker responses. I suspect you'll need to use the smaart i/o because i can put in a voltage/p.Pb_user_ / Octo/ Rta microphone calibrator / comments "The Microphone selector is normally disabled unless you are using an input device with known electrical sensitivity, in which case you will be able to store and recall sensitivity values for named microphones that allow you to essentially calibrate Smaart to SPL (or some other reference) without a sound level calibrator." In the help file it says as you already found :

First calibrate and after that you joggle the gain settings all you want. If i punch in the numbers on sim3 and then verify spl read out on the mic it's off and the same within smaart compared to the. I can put in the sensitivity but if i verify with a calibrator it doesn't match al the time. I did the calibration and saved it but as it turns out i need to calibrate each time i do a alignment. I assume this is what the mic and interface sensitivities account for. For example, if the room background noise I'm measuring is 20db lower than where I calibrated, the SPL measurement is way off. However, the calibration only works within a few db of the reference I calibrated at. I have been able to manually calibrate SPL using the offset field (the auto calibration is off a few db, but then I manually adjust the offset) using my analog Radio Shack meter. Smaart's integrated help system says I can only set up a microphone and its sensitivity if the electrical sensitivity of the interface is known.ġ) How exactly is the mic's sensitivity used? Is it a simple multiplier to transform delta voltage to delta SPL?Ģ) Is there a way to measure/estimate and then specify to Smaart an interface's electrical sensitivity?ģ) What interfaces does Smaart actually know the electrical sensitivity of? The Microphone field is disabled and I am unable to set the Sensitivty for my mic as provided by my factory calibration (5.7mV with 94db) because the field doesn't take any input. Clicking 'Calibrate" brings up the the Amplitude Calibration dialog. I haven't had any problem entering my mic's frequency response (calibration curve)ĭouble clicking on the SPL meter in the upper right window corner brings up the Sound Level Options Dialog. I've been playing around with the SPL readings on Smaart 7 and am trying to enter my mic sensitivity.
